*CNA program or minimum one year experience as a nursing assistant or EMT training required
Performs the functions of a ward clerk/tech in the ED in performing all assignments given by the registered nurse. Is accountable for all aspects in the delivery of patient care and clerical duties as assigned during a shift. Is responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care and for promoting teamwork among co-workers. |
Duties: |
1. Provide patient care as directed throughout shift.
2. Reports in concise, pertinent manner to nurse.
3. Collects specimens per procedure. Instructs patients in proper technique for collecting specimens.
4. Responds willingly to requests. Floats wherever needed without complaint.
5. Maintains adequate quantity of forms, materials, supplies and equipment inventory on assigned unit.
6. Correctly takes as directed: vital signs, weights, interpretation of cardiac monitor, and accurately records intake and output. Notifies nurse of any significant change or deviation from normal.
7. Follow established policies and procedures without fail.
8. Provides privacy for patients at all times.
9. Maintains all knowledge about patients in confidence.
10. Acts rapidly and calmly during emergencies and provides the necessary materials called for by RN or Physician.
11. Conforms to hospital dress code.
12. Documents all care given.
13. Assists in completing ED charge tickets.
14. Assists in patient discharge/transfer from ER/ICU.
15. Participates in Performance Improvement Activities monthly as designated.
16. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
17. Demonstrates personal conduct in accordance with hospital departmental, professional policies and directives.
18. Follows CDC guidelines for universal precautions at all times.

* Annual Fire/Electrical Safety Training
* Annual Infection Control Training
* Annual Hazardous Materials Training
* CPR Certification
* Corporate Compliance
* Basic computer knowledge
* Cardiac monitoring
* Perform V/S
* IV insertion
* Foley catheter insertion
* Clerical duties
* High School diploma or GED Certificate
* Attend dysrhythmia class with a score of 85% or greater
* Attend IV insertion class with competent return demonstration
* CNA program or minimum one year experience as a nursing assistant or EMT training
